My Top 5 Disney+ Series
May 28, 2021It's been just over a year since Disney+ launched, it absolutely saved me in lockdown. They've given us everything we wanted and more. There have been things I didn't really care for but also things I cared so much for.
Here are my top 5 series so far:
The Imagineering Story
This series is tremendous. Definitely a must-watch for any Disney fan. It shows the creation of the parks, the rides, everyone who made it happen along the way and footage of Walt's original vision. There was so much in this series where I thought "wow, I didn't know that". There is only 6 episodes and I wanted more, so many secrets and history that's been kept under wraps for years available. It's opened my eyes and there so many little quirks that I'll be able to see for myself once I return from the parks.
Love, Victor
Technically not a Disney+ exclusive as it was deemed "too mature". However, we can now watch through Star on Disney+. Love, Victor is a spin off series to the film Simon is such an important film and such a lovely little rom-com. Love, Victor will be seen by a lot of young people who are confused about feelings and who they are and it will make them feel included, and seen. The story follows 16 year old Victor who's been messaging Simon as an agony aunt figure via Instagram as he works his way through high school on a journey to discover who he is. It's very wholesome and I'm very happy the world is now producing shows like this, a step in the right direction
High School Musical: The Musical: The Series
And coming in first with the worlds longest title goes to.... Olivia Rodrigo is probably the biggest star on the planet right now and I'm very happy and smug to know I discovered her from this show. I was such a huge High School Musical fan so there was no way on earth I'd be missing this. It follows the story of the current students of East High as they put together and perform their own version of the musical... it's cheesy, there's drama, there's original songs which are insanely are catchy. All over just a general feel good series; and with cameos from the original cast, you'll be smiling like a Cheshire cat all the way through.
Wandavision
Never in a million years did I think I would be into this, Marvel and superheroes are just not my thing. But this series is just completely bonkers. It's absolutely brilliant, it takes some time to get into but once I got the whole idea it is mind blowing! I wanted more.. Without giving too much away, it follows the wacky world of Wanda and Vision, and her own vision... With references to many shows, some which I grew up watching it adds nostalgia. There are twist and turns and plots that you would never have guessed. 10/10 would recommend.
Encore
This is a series about ex-class mates who reunite after 10 or so years to recreate their High School musical. It's absolutely tacky, hilarious and cheesy; and of course I cried when the groups aced their musical when being watched by their families. Full of ex lovers to add a little bit of drama, it's definitely a show for theatre lovers and makes you wonder what your old class mates are up to. Again, I would love a second series but it's just not looking like it's going to happen which is disappointing.
What are your top five and what are you looking forward to?
Lots of Love
